How to use Plainboard

Open from the menu bar and find the items you copied. You can use the keyboard too.

Quick start

Three steps

    Menu bar

    Open Plainboard

    Click the Plainboard icon in the macOS menu bar to open your clipboard history. To open it with a shortcut, set Show Plainboard in Settings → Keyboard. It is unbound by default.

    Anywhere

    Copy as usual

    Copy text, links, files, or images while you work. Plainboard saves them on your Mac.

    Reuse

    Reuse the items you copied

    Browse by type, app, or bookmark, then copy any item — click it, or select with the arrow keys and press Return.

Everyday use

Filters, bookmarks, and keyboard

Filter by type
Text, Link, File, and Image.
Filter by source app
See clips from apps like Chrome, Finder, or Notes.
Bookmark items
Keep important clips from retention cleanup.
Adjust settings
Exclude apps, skip sensitive items, and set how long history is kept.
Use the keyboard too
Use the arrow keys to select an item and Return to copy it. Tab reaches Open, Bookmark, and Delete. Esc leaves that button focus. Set a shortcut in Settings if you want one.
