Is it free to use?
- Yes. You can start with a free plan that has limits. If you need longer retention and more bookmarks, buy Pro as a one-time purchase.
Do you offer refunds?
- Yes. Email support@plainboard.app within 7 days of purchase with the email address used at checkout, and we will refund you, no questions asked.
Does Mac have built-in clipboard history?
- Yes. On recent versions of macOS, open Spotlight with Command-Space, then use the Clipboard button or Command-4. If Clipboard is missing, turn on Results from Clipboard in System Settings → Spotlight. On macOS 26.1, you can keep results for 30 minutes, 8 hours, or 7 days.
How is Plainboard different from Spotlight clipboard?
- Spotlight is for quick recovery of recent copies. Plainboard keeps clipboard history on your Mac in the menu bar, with filters by type and source app, bookmarks, and retention settings for everyday reuse. Open it from the menu bar or a shortcut you set, then reuse items with the arrow keys and Return.
Can I open Plainboard with a keyboard shortcut?
- Yes. Set Show Plainboard in Settings → Keyboard. It is unbound by default, and some system shortcuts may already be reserved.
Where does Plainboard store clipboard history?
- On your Mac. No separate account or cloud sync is required.
Can Plainboard save images, links, and files?
- Yes. Plainboard handles copied text, links, files, and images, with previews and metadata where available.
Can I filter clipboard history by source app?
- Yes. Plainboard can show where clipboard items came from, so you can browse history by source app as well as by content type.
Can I exclude apps from clipboard monitoring?
- Yes. You can exclude apps so copied items from those apps are not saved to your clipboard history.
Does Plainboard save passwords or sensitive clipboard data?
- Plainboard includes a setting to skip sensitive clipboard types, such as password-manager clipboard items that mark their content as concealed or transient.
